MPP marks National Indigenous History Month at Queen’s Park in Anishininiimowin
Sol Mamakwa says a lot of people don’t realize the importance of what language means, which is why he takes every opportunity he can to speak in Anishininiimowin, also known as Oji-Cree, at Queen’s Park. Mamakawa, the NDP MPP for the riding of Kiiwetinoong in northwestern Ontario, made a five-minute address in his language Monday to mark the beginning of National Indigenous History Month.
