Newburgh police chief to take school role

NEWBURGH - Anthony Geraci will step down as the city's police chief to become director of safety and security at the Newburgh Enlarged City School District.The board of education made the appointment on Friday and Geraci confirmed that he'd be retiring from the city position. He said his last day will be May 3. Geraci came to Newburgh from the Capitol Region. He was the former police chief of Watervliet before he took the Newburgh job in 2021.
