U.S. Open local qualifier attracts another large field

Nowhere is the Capital Region’s steep golf history more evident than the U.S. Open qualifier.
It has been a staple on the local calendar nearly every year since the 1930s. This year’s 18-hole first stage will be held Monday at Albany Country Club with 84 entries, matching 1979 and last year as the highest total since 1971, when a record 93 registered.
