Last-place Maple Leafs fire assistant coach Savard

The underperforming Toronto Maple Leafs fired assistant coach Marc Savard on Monday, the club announced in a statement, following a weekend in which the team dropped two games in two days, falling to second to last place in the Eastern Conference.
