New DNA testing lab now open in Wake County, allowing county to solve crimes faster

State and county leaders began work on the $1.5 million facility after it secured funding in 2022. At the time, they said the funding would help with two projects aimed at improving public safety and cutting down on a backlog of untested DNA kits.
