Cara Benson memoir explores sobriety, grief after partner's suicide

There were times in her late teens and early 20s, and before finding sobriety, when Cara Benson was every parent’s nightmare. 
“I was a liar, a cheat, and a thief,” she said. “I could be counted on not to be counted on. If I said I was going to be someplace, I would probably show up an hour late and be drunk.”
