Fort Wayne Community Schools sees decrease in weapons on school property
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Fort Wayne Community Schools has seen a decrease in the amount of weapons on school property due to recent security measures.FWCS introduced open gate metal detection systems in 2024. This came after nine weapons had been found in schools or on school property, according to FWCS Executive Director of Safety and Partnerships Matt Schiebel.The purpose of the metal detection systems is primarily to keep guns out of the schools. These systems are in all FWCS schools,
