Shirlington area pedestrian bridge back open after repairs

A pedestrian bridge in the Shirlington area is back open after a mini rehabilitation project.
The S. Nelson Street bridge — which spans Four Mile Run, connecting Shirlington with Jennie Dean Park and the Green Valley neighborhood — closed over the winter.
County crews spent the past couple of months removing and replacing decaying decking boards, as well as repainting metal surfaces from blue to green and gray, matching colors used in the park.
