Villa Park, Laguna Beach, San Juan Hills earn dramatic wins in baseball playoffs

Val Lopez scored the winning run in the seventh inning on a passed ball to give Villa Park an 8-7 victory over Bishop Amat in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division 1 playoffs Thursday at Villa Park High.
Val Lopez and Nate Lewis hit back-to-back singles for Villa Park (23-6) to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning. After both runners advanced to scoring position, Bishop Amat intentionally walked Jake Nobles to set up a force out at home plate. On the third pitch of the ensuin
