Southeast NM county now using license plate reader, seeing promising results

LEA COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – License plate readers are becoming an essential tool for law enforcement throughout the state. Recently, one county reported that the use of these readers has significantly benefited their operations over the past two months. "Out of those two months ago, we have already successfully recovered two stolen vehicles and I would say approximately, approximately $70,000 [in stolen goods],” said Crime Analyst Jose Rendon with the Lea County Sheriff's Office.T
