Vector-free intra-airway in vivo epigenetic editing

We report vector-free epigenetic gene reactivation in vivo by specially configured recombinant proteins that do not require transgenesis, vectors, or packaging tools. By combining sequence-specific DNA-binding domains with epigenetically acting enzymes, these fusion chimeras attain local demethylation and targeted derepression of a selected gene when administered via aerosol and intranasal droplets.
