Lithium Miners Cash In as Battery Storage Demand Surges
Major lithium producers achieved their strongest financial results in three years during the first half of the year, capitalizing on accelerating demand for battery storage systems. Chinese companies Tianqi Lithium Corp. and Ganfeng Lithium Group led the gains, while U.S.-based Albemarle reported that global lithium demand had increased 45% year-over-year through May. The expansion was primarily driven by growing requirements for energy storage applications rather than traditional battery uses.
