Flights cancelled as volcano erupts at holiday hotspot causing travel chaos

Mount Etna erupted on Monday morning, spewing ash and smoke into the air and causing travel chaos in the region. Catania Airport has been forced to ground flights for safety reasons, with passengers being diverted to Palermo.
