Coventry finance chief blames 'profiteering' for soaring children's care costs

Coventry City Council forecasts an overall £3.8m underspend for 2026/27, despite a projected £4.2m overspend in Children's and Education Services, mainly driven by the costs of caring for children. Finance chief Cllr Richard Brown calls the children's care placement market 'broken' and accuses providers of 'profiteering'.
