England’s rail fares to be frozen in 2026 — well some of them will be

Around half of England’s rail fares will be frozen during next year’s ticket price change, but the fares freeze will only affect regulated fares and will put pressure on London’s tube and bus fares.
The annual fares rise is traditionally aligned to the July Retail Prices Index (RPI) figure of the preceding year, so it had been expected that fares would rise by 4.8% in 2026.
