Greek tree planting scheme to protect coast

Greek Islands like Kefalonia and Aegina have pushed ahead with planting trees in a bid to halt costal erosion.The Lokron Municipality of Greece has authorised the planting of 200 tamarisk trees along its beaches to improve coastal sustainability.Local authorities, including Mayor Athanasios Zekentes and Metropolitan Symeon, joined volunteers from “Friends of Arkitsa” and students from Arkitsa Primary School and Atalanti Vocational Lyceum.
