Specsavers profits jump as owners resume dividend payouts

Specsavers has resumed dividend payments to its parent company after profits surged by more than a quarter during its latest financial year.
The company paid a £12m dividend to Specsavers International Healthcare Limited, which is controlled by founders Doug and Dame Mary Perkins, after pre-tax profit climbed to £429.7m in the year to February.
Sales at the retailer rose seven per cent to £4.3bn despite what it described as a challenging macroeconomic environment.
