Lidl gears up for scan and shop handsets

German discounter Lidl is gearing up to roll out scan and shop handsets to its stores.
The supermarket has filed a trademark in Europe and the UK for “Lidl & Go” to apply to digital payment systems such as “customer-operated electronic terminals available on-site in retail stores,” The Grocer reported.
The trademark covers the software and hardware for the devices.
Retail Gazette has contacted Lidl for comment.
