Early release of dozens of inmates by SNP ministers was vetoed by prison governors on safety grounds

Nearly 140 prisoners were back on the streets yesterday as part of the SNP's bid to tackle jail overcrowding - but the early release of dozens more inmates was blocked on safety grounds.
