World Court Says Countries Are Legally Obligated to Protect Climate

Source: Google News - HealthThe UN's top court has ruled that countries have an obligation to protect the environment from greenhouse gas emissions. This obligation includes limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, under the Paris Agreement. The court also ruled that if nations breach these obligations, they are legally responsible and may be required to cease the wrongful conduct, offer guarantees of non-repetition, and make full reparations.
