My friend Mick Biegel, who has died aged 69 of cancer, operated successfully in varied arenas, primarily in the armed forces. He spent 10 years in the Green Howards, 15 years in the Territorial Army (now the Army Reserve), and was commandant of the Essex army cadet force.
