Court orders FG, 36 states, FCT to provide free, compulsory education to every Nigerian child

The Federal High Court in Lagos in a landmark judgment has ruled that the Federal Government, the country’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) “have the legal obligations to provide free, compulsory and universal basic education for every Nigerian child of primary and junior secondary school age.”The judgment was delivered on October 9 2025 by Hon.
