Female Burmese pythons tested as lures fail to boost wild python detections in Florida

Researchers in Florida tested if Burmese python pheromones could serve as effective lures to attract wild snakes. They used captive female pythons at various sites but found no significant attraction to them. A total of 3,690,308 photographs were taken, resulting in only four independent detections of pythons. Stress from captivity likely affected pheromone emission from the female pythons during the study.
