Cold medicines for under-4s face curbs over safety concerns

The Centre has restricted combination cold medicines for young children. Fixed-dose combinations of chlorpheniramine maleate and phenylephrine hydrochloride are now banned. These combinations pose risks and safer alternatives are available for children. Manufacturers must now prominently display warnings on all affected drug labels. This regulatory action follows extensive reviews and recommendations from expert committees.
