Ontario vet groups aim to increase diversity within the field

Veterinary doctors and advocates say increasing diversity within the field is essential because doctors should reflect the population and clients. According to an Ontario Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA) survey of 503 veterinarians from 2023, respondents cited only 1.9 per cent of veterinarians identified as Black, 1.7 per cent as Indigenous and 19 per cent as racialized.
