Local arsonist charged after statue destroyed

A statue honouring early North West Mounted Police Major-General Sir Samuel B. Steele has been destroyed in what Strathcona County RCMP say is a case of arson. On Friday, March 21 at 10:25 p.m., RCMP and Emergency Services responded to a call near the intersection of Athabascan Avenue and Broadmoor Boulevard to discover the memorial statue ablaze.
