Elections Alberta launches historic hiring drive

Elections Alberta has launched what it calls the largest electoral worker recruitment campaign in provincial history ahead of the Oct. 19, 2026 referendum, with at least 60,000 workers needed to deliver the vote.The agency says the unprecedented scale of the referendum, which will feature 10 ballot questions, requires a massive workforce to meet a legislated 48 hour deadline for completing the unofficial count. Approximately 45 million ballots will be printed, far exceeding the 1.8 million cast
