Open-air burning banned in Sault Ste. Marie

Open-air burning in Sault Ste. Marie is banned until further notice. Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services will not renew or issue fire permits during the restriction that began Thursday, a release says. Any resident burning during the ban will be subject to penalty. Certified natural gas and propane firepits, fire tables and fireplaces don’t need a permit and can be used.
