Victoria police chief says there’s hope despite ongoing social order issues

Victoria Police Department so far sees an 8.7 per cent increase in calls compared to this time last year –responding to 27,053 so far in 2026 – but it’s not a clear sign of increased crime, the police chief told council in an update Thursday (July 23).
