A new bylaw intended to reduce reliance on personal vehicles and better support walking, rolling, cycling and transit within Nanaimo has been adopted by council.
Council voted for the off-street parking bylaw, with councillors Sheryl Armstrong and Ian Thorpe opposed, at a meeting on July 27.
The bylaw is intended to modernize the city’s parking regulations to better match land use, location, access to transit and real-world parking demand.
