COLUMN: No shortage of council contenders

I’m always amazed at how many people want to throw their hats in the ring to sit at Nanaimo’s council table each municipal election.
Mind you, I think it’s great that so many citizens in the city are civic-minded enough to want to dedicate their time and effort to the betterment of their community (at least I hope that’s the motivation), but I’ve covered municipal politics for most of my writing career, and I know what’s involved.
