Alberta First Nation moving ahead with plans to protect gender-affirming care

A First Nation in Alberta is planning to make its reserve lands a safe haven for gender-affirming care for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
The Saddle Lake Cree Nation announced it would be pursuing these measures as a response to a series of bills from the Alberta government that place severe restrictions on transgender youth and their families. The announcement was made during a Treaty 6 gathering in Fort Pitt, Sask on Wednesday (Sept. 9).
