Candidates who attended a town hall Wednesday in Sudbury made a heartfelt case for the role government can play in buoying up and protecting its most vulnerable citizens. “Putting public wellbeing into private hands always goes sideways,” said Andreane Chenier, the NDP nominee for Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt (as the rejigged riding is now clumsily named). “We need a people-centred approach where we’re funding basic needs — like education, health care, the e
