Drug overdose now top killer among younger Sudburians

Greater Sudbury is marking a sombre milestone — overdose has become a top killer. According to data provided by Health Sciences North to city council this week, emergency room visits from those who are considered homeless have spiked by 135 per cent over the past five years. That represents nearly 2,000 visits to the emergency department by 521 individuals with no fixed address. “Overdose is now the leading cause of death (in people) under 49 in our region,” Mayor Paul Lefebvr
