Trade war, Alberta referendum loom large as Carney charts cabinet's year forward

Prime Minister Mark Carney is huddling with his cabinet ministers and secretaries of state in Banff, Alta., over the next two days to plan a return to Parliament that’s expected to be anything but normal, as the trade war escalates with the U.S. and Alberta prepares for a fall referendum that includes a question that could trigger an eventual separation from the country.
