Alberta premier warns separation could cost $400B. Separatists, economists and Brexit scholars have thoughts

Almost $400 billion of transitional costs, plus somewhere in the neighbourhood of $25 billion to $50 billion in annual costs. That was Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s early estimate of the price tag facing her province should it separate from Canada.
