St. Joseph's students travel to Europe to commemorate VE-Day, visit historical sites
Around 20 St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School students, a handful of teachers, and the school’s principal Joy Martel set off overseas on Thursday to take part in Victory in Europe Day (VE-Day) celebrations. The Cornwall crew will visit historical sites in France and the Netherlands over their nine-day whirlwind trip. May 8 is the 80th anniversary of VE-Day, when the German forces capitulated to the Allies and the Second World War’s European battlefields fell silent. Grade 1
