Merritt hotel catches fire overnight, deemed suspicious: RCMP

MERRITT — A hotel in Merritt caught fire overnight.
At around 1:30 a.m. Friday (June 13), Merritt RCMP and Merritt Fire Rescue responded to the Comfort Inn and Suites on De Wolf Way where a large portion of the building was engulfed in flames.
In a news release, RCMP say the hotel was extensively damaged, but all guests were safely evacuated. No injuries were reported.
RCMP and fire investigations will remain on scene Friday gathering evidence and determining the cause of the hotel fire.
