Chatham man charged with assaulting partner

A 37-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault and forcible confinement after a domestic dispute Thursday. Tensions escalated between a couple at a residence in Chatham. The woman attempted to leave, but was prevented from doing so by her partner, Chatham-Kent police said. Police arrived to find a woman outside with visible injuries, including swelling and bruising around her left eye.
