Special mail-in ballot requests surge above 175,000 ahead of Alberta referendum

Elections Alberta said it has received more than 175,000 requests for special ballots as of Tuesday, with more than 50 days remaining before the fall referendum. The total is already nearly triple the amount requested in the 2023 provincial election.
