Central Alberta municipalities prepare for economic boost as $2.9B Atco pipeline breaks ground this month
Municipal leaders in west-central Alberta are preparing for an economic boost as a major natural gas pipeline is set to begin construction later this month. The Atco Yellowhead Pipeline will span 235 kilometres, starting in Peers — about 200 kilometres west of Edmonton — and running through Lac Ste. Anne, Parkland and Sturgeon counties before ending near Fort Saskatchewan in Alberta's Industrial Heartland region.
