Alberta proposes fines of up to $1M for illegal garbage dumping

The Alberta government will introduce legislation this fall to increase penalties for illegal dumping, with fines ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 for individuals, and $100,000 to $1 million for corporations. The changes would also allow courts to impose jail sentences, ranging from a minimum of 30 days to six months.
