A winning combo: Athletes, volunteers make Special Olympics 'shine'

More than 1,700 athletes are competing at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alta., where 1,500 local volunteers are pitching in to provide a memorable games experience for athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
