More than 50 hikers evacuated from West Coast Trail amid heavy rains

More than 54 people have been evacuated since Sunday from the West Coast Trail by Carl and Shelley Edgar, owners of the Crab Shack and the Nitinat Wilderness Charters ferry off of the trail. Carl, who has operated the ferry crossing for 51 years, says he can't remember a storm this severe on the trail during the month of July, noting that there's typically one rain storm in August.
