'Absolutely worst situation': B.C. forestry sector fears it will be hardest-hit by U.S. tariffs
B.C.'s forestry industry expects it will be one of the hardest-hit sectors by the new 50 per cent U.S. tariffs on Canadian goods. B.C. is the largest producer of lumber in Canada, and the sector plays large role in the province's economy. Most products exported by B.C. are sold to the U.S., valued at about $6.7 billion by the provincial government in 2024.
