Nominations kick off for vacant Brant County council seat

Some Brant County residents will have a warm-up for the next municipal election. Council has decided to hold a byelection to fill the Ward 5 seat left vacant when former councillor Christine Garneau resigned in October, citing “an irreconcilable conflict” between her municipal duty and her business’s “best interests.” Going this route is “the fairest thing. It’s the most transparent thing for us to do,” Mayor David Bailey said at a council meeting
