Impaired drivers and violent crimes on the decline in Abbotsford

The first half of 2026 has been a busy time for the Abbotsford Police Department, even as some categories of crime have been on the decline.
According to the statistics recently released by the department, one of the few areas that has been even more frequent than the first half of 2025 is driving infractions.
From Jan. 1 to June 30 of this year, the Abbotsford police have handed out 2,965 violation tickets, which is a 4.4 per cent increase from this same time period in 2025.
