Almost two decades after it was first published, Naomi Klein’s book, The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism, continues to be relevant. The best-selling book lays out how political players exploit the mayhem surrounding natural disasters, wars and other crises to push through policies that, in the end, favour the interests of corporations over citizens who are too distracted to resist. The book, which was made into a documentary in 2009, has seen a rise in sales lately amid th
